Latham & Watkins' arbitration team has partners in five offices. The co-chairs are Mark Beckett, Robert Volterra and Philip Clifford, who work from London and New York. For many years Beckett was in Paris. In addition to his practice work, he chairs the arbitration committee of the US arm of the ICC, the United States Council for International Business. He is also on the ICC's arbitration commission. Since returning to the US, he has remained active in ICC affairs and says that he has enjoyed transporting a service standard considered normal in France, where arbitration is a discipline in its own right, to the US, where clients still think in terms of generic commercial litigators.
