James Barratt
James Barratt is Counsel in the London office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, specialising in international arbitration. James has represented clients in numerous international arbitrations under all leading arbitral rules (including ICC and LCIA, AAA, UNCITRAL) as well as in ad hoc arbitrations at various seats (including London, Paris, Geneva, Vienna, Hong Kong and New York). His experience includes representing parties from both common and civil law systems in disputes governed by a wide variety of substantive and procedural laws (including English, New York, Spanish, French, German, Malaysian and PRC law).
In addition, James has represented and advised clients on investment treaty disputes, public international law and in substantial commercial litigation. He has a particular focus on disputes concerning joint ventures, M&A, project finance, energy, aerospace and defence and telecommunications. James has appeared as the sole or joint advocate before international arbitral tribunals, in several trials and in a considerable number of applications.
James is a graduate of Selwyn College, Cambridge and is an English-qualified barrister. He is a member of the ICC, the LCIA, the IBA, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.
