Prof Dr Franz Kellerhals is active in domestic and international arbitration as an arbitrator and as a legal expert.

He acted as an arbitrator (mostly as a chairman) in a large number of cases in the field of construction, telecommunication, agency and distribution, mergers and acquisitions, labour disputes as well as in many other areas. The cases he arbitrated involved parties from Europe as well as from all other continents. Franz Kellerhals is a member of the board of ASA, the chairman of the special committee for the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration and a member of LCIA; he was an arbitrator of the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Accounts and a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the Bank for International Settlements.

Franz Kellerhals is a founding partner of Kellerhals Attorneys at Law (1975); he was admitted to the Bar in 1964. He undertook legal studies at the Universities of Geneva, Berne, Chicago Law School and Stanford Law School, and he was a scholar of the Ford Foundation. Franz Kellerhals was professor at the University of Berne for Civil Procedure (1986-2001); former president of the Bernese Bar Association and vice president of the Swiss Bar Association. He speaks German, English and French.
