Crenguta Leaua
Crenguta Leaua has acted as counsel in commercial arbitral proceedings under the rules of ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, WIPO and the Romanian Court of International Commercial Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania. She has also acted in ad hoc arbitrations under various national laws.
Ms Leaua is the vice president of the Romanian Court of International Commercial Arbitration. She is also a member of the panel of foreign arbitrators of the Bulgarian Court of International Arbitration and of the WIPO list of neutrals for intellectual property disputes. Ms Leaua is a member of the ICC task force on criminal law and arbitration, as a representative of the Romanian national committee.
She has written for numerous publications and regularly makes presentations at conferences on international commercial arbitration, including "Arbitration of Foreign Investments Disputes and Romania" (2006), "The Right to a Fair Trial in International Commercial Arbitration - Introductive Considerations" (2007), "Arbitration in Romania" (2007) and "The Appointing Authority in International Commercial Arbitration" (2008).
Ms Leaua has a PhD from the University of Bucharest in corporate litigation (civil procedural law). She is a lecturer in business law at the Bucharest University of Economics and a visiting lecturer in international commercial arbitration on the LLM programme of the University of Petru Maior Târgu Mures, Romania.
Ms Leaua is fluent in Romanian, English and French, has a good command of Italian and a basic knowledge of German.
