Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados (Miranda) is a full-service Portuguese law firm, based in Lisbon. The firm has a staff of around 200 people, of which 150 are fee-earners. Over the years Miranda has built a reputation as one of the preeminent and most internationally oriented Portuguese law firms. As a result, in 2006 Miranda was nominated for Legal Business magazine's Firm of the Year award, the first Portuguese firm ever nominated for this distinction. Miranda is a founder and full member of the Miranda Alliance, an international alliance of law firms and lawyers predominantly based in Portuguese-speaking countries. The Miranda Alliance covers 11 jurisdictions: Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Houston (US), Macao (China), Mozambique, Sío Tomé e Principe and Timor-Leste. Miranda is renowned for its arbitration practice, both local and international, in all the Miranda Alliance jurisdictions. Some of our lawyers are ranked as arbitration experts by renowned publications. Moreover, our lawyers are founding members of the Portuguese Arbitration Association. Recent local and international arbitration-related practice includes: representing a construction company in an ad hoc arbitration in Portugal involving a claim for breach of a construction contract for road infrastructure; acting as arbitrator in an ICC arbitration in Portugal brought by an international chain of hotels for breach of contract; and assisting an electronic products distribution company in an ICC arbitration in Austria for breach of an agency agreement. |
