Who's Who name: Calvin Hamilton
New addition. After eight years at the helm of the arbitration department at Spanish firm Monereo Meyer Marinel-lo Abogados, Calvin Hamilton decided to go it alone. The result is "Hamilton", a new arbitration boutique in the Spanish market. It comprises Calvin Hamilton, dual qualified in French and US law, and two associates in Madrid. Originally from Guyana, Calvin Hamilton spent 15 years at B Cremades y Asociados before joining Monereo Meyer Marinel-lo Abogados in 2001.
Our recent survey on Spain highlighted the "rare contribution of perspectives" Hamilton makes to what may be the growth market of the future. "He can play a particular role in Spain," says one arbitration specialist, "because he is an American lawyer with the background of a common law practitioner and yet the experience of many years in Spain, a civil law jurisdiction."
