Pierre Tercier
Pierre Tercier became chairman of the International
Court of Arbitration on 1 March 2006.
A Swiss national and a professor at the University of
Fribourg, Switzerland, Professor Tercier has more than
30 yearsメ experience of international and domestic
arbitrations and other dispute resolution proceedings.
He has acted in over a hundred cases, in all capacities
(sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, tribunal chairman,
mediator, Dispute Board chairman) and under various
sets of rules (ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, ad
hoc). He is highly respected in the international legal
and business community as an arbitrator, lecturer and
author. Professor Tercier was formerly the chairman of
the Swiss Cartel Commission and the Swiss Insurance
Law Society.
Professor Tercier is visiting professor at numerous
law faculties including the University of Geneva and the University of Paris. He graduated from the University
of Fribourg, summa cum laude, and was admitted
to the bar in 1969.
