Maxi Scherer

Dr Maxi Scherer is counsel with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, resident in the firm's London office. She specialises in international arbitration and dispute resolution.
Maxi's practice focuses on complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. She is familiar with arbitral practice and procedure in French, German and similar civil law systems. Additionally, Maxi counsels clients on conflict of laws and international jurisdiction issues.
Prior to joining the international dispute resolution department in London, Maxi practised international arbitration and general commercial litigation in Paris. Specifically, she has been involved in a wide variety of proceedings concerning the enforcement and challenge of arbitral awards before the French courts. She also has experience of the taking evidence in French jurisdictions in connection with international litigation proceedings.
Since 1999, Maxi has been a permanent lecturer on private international law at the University of Paris I. She has also taught European civil procedure at the University of Paris X Nanterre and comparative law at the University of Basel, Switzerland. She has published articles on a variety of issues of international and arbitration law.
Maxi was a scholar of the German National Academic Foundation and has been admitted as a member of the French Comity on Private International Law and the French Comparative Law Society.
Maxi is a graduate of the University of Paris I and received an LLM degree from the University of Cologne. In 2001, she obtained her PhD at the University of Paris I. She is a member of the Paris bar.
