Ramiro Guevara
Ramiro Guevara is founding and principal partner of Guevara
& Gutierrez SC Servicios Legales incorporated in 1989. Prior to
forming the firm he was made a member of the board of directors
of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos, the Bolivian
Central Bank, and the National Stock Exchange Commission.
As a result of his achievements, Mr Guevara features prominently
in many national and international publications as one of the
foremost attorneys in Bolivia - the latest publications being Latin
Chambers and IFLR. This recognition, coupled with his constant
and positive participation in the International Bar Association's
activities, led to his appointment as country representative (Bolivia)
by the IBA and the New York State Bar Association. Furthermore,
he is a member of the American Bar Association and an arbiter in
the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the National Commerce
Chamber of Bolivia.
Ramiro obtained his law degree from the Universidad Mayor
de San Andrés in La Paz, Bolivia. Additionally, he obtained an MBA
at the Université des Sciences Sociales and completed post graduate
studies in International Commerce at the Institut d'Etudes
Internationales et de Développement in Toulouse, France. He also
participated in the Seminar on Investment Treaties, Investment
Agreements and Joint Ventures at the Institut International de Droit
du Développement in Rome, Italy.
He has taught at the Universidad Católica Boliviana. He also
gave various lectures and workshops regarding investment bonds,
hydrocarbons law and legal security in Bolivia, international arbitration
and finance law.
His experience led to his participation in the drafting commission
charged with drafting of the following Bolivian Laws: Central
Bank Law, Conciliation and Arbitration Law, Export Endorsement
Law, Securities Law, Pension Funds Law, and Hydrocarbons Law.
