Pairs of speakers – one local, one foreign – will supply personal perspectives on arbitrating cases with Brazil as the seat and discuss what might be done to improve its standing globally.
Topics to be discussed:
- Anti-arbitration injunctions and other court intervention during proceedings
- Annulment of awards
- Enforcement of awards “made in Brazil”, and “made abroad”
- Local vs foreign arbitral institutions

What dispute resolution traps should Brazilian companies avoid as they invest around the globe? A panel of international speakers will point out the legal quick-sands that might otherwise trap the unwary, taking in most of the main destinations for Brazilian investment. The session will discuss:
- issues surrounding arbitration clauses
- the best neutral seats
- treaty protection structure
- traps for the unwary
- discovery
